On 16-17 March 2023, the delegation of Tajikistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Farhod Salim participated in the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

During his speech, Mr. Farhod Salim recalled the effective measures taken by the Government of Tajikistan to combat terrorism and extremism.

Deputy Minister stated that the expansion of economic and trade ties among OIC countries through the implementation of relevant programs is one of the important factors in addressing economic and social problems, including poverty reduction and provision of sustainable living conditions in the OIC region.

In conclusion, Mr. Farhod Salim invited all OIC member states to actively participate in the UN 2023 Water Conference, which will be held on 22-24 March 2023 in New York under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan the Netherlands.

On March 17, 2023, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Farhod Salim, on the sidelines of the 49th Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers met the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania H.E. Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

During the meeting, parties exchanged views on the further development and expansion of friendly political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
