Asaf Atasoy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asfa Holding, included the following statements in his message;

On the occasion of January 10th, Working Journalists’ Day, I extend my sincerest congratulations to all journalists who, beyond being the eyes, ears, and voice of our nation, represent the social conscience and fulfill their duty of providing the public with accurate news with great dedication.

In today’s world, where information spreads rapidly, media platforms diversify, and the influence of the digital world increases every day, access to accurate and reliable news has become more important than ever. While access to information has become easier, accessing accurate and truthful information has become more difficult. In this context, the journalism profession has great importance in accurately informing society and enlightening public opinion. Principled journalism makes significant contributions to ensuring peace, tranquility, and security in our country, while misused journalism can destroy this environment. The journalistic profession, carried out with a sense of social responsibility, professional ethics, and impartiality, creates a power of oversight on behalf of the public, making a great contribution to the development and protection of democracy.

Journalism is not just a profession; it is also a challenging task carried out with a great sense of social responsibility. In today’s world, journalists, who perform their duties with great dedication during times of crisis, wars, or global pandemics, are the most valuable representatives of the profession. In their pursuit of truth, journalists represent the conscience of society by adhering to the principle of impartiality and professional ethics, and they fulfill their duty of providing the public with accurate and reliable information in the best possible way.

However, it is crucial that the press, while fulfilling these important duties, remains committed to professional ethics, adheres to the principle of impartiality, and does not forget its responsibility to society. The press must ensure the flow of accurate and objective information while simultaneously safeguarding the public interest and respecting the rights of individuals and institutions. This approach will enhance the credibility of our press in the eyes of the public and enable it to play a more effective role in its development.

Aware of the dedicated work of journalists and the great sacrifices they make in carrying out their profession, we appreciate their efforts, both at the national and local levels, to provide our citizens with accurate, reliable, and timely information.

With these feelings and thoughts, I once again celebrate the Working Journalists’ Day on January 10th for all our journalists; and I wish them a healthy, peaceful, and successful year. I also pray for God’s mercy upon the journalists who lost their lives while on duty.

On November 25, 2024, on the occasion of the National Flag Day, a solemn event was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event began with the performance by Tajik diplomats of the national anthem of the Republic of Tajikistan and the demonstration of the national flag, and then the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin made a speech about the historical significance of the national flag, which symbolizes good luck and independence, the indestructible unity of all classes of society, friendship, equality, and steadfastness for the prosperity of our beloved Motherland.

The Minister quoted the words of the leader of the nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon, who said: “Our national flag has a colorful history dating back thousands of years. History has proved that the Aryan peoples were among the first in the world to create a flag ceremony,” adding that the celebration of the National Flag is one of the holidays that today represent Tajikistan as an independent, cultured and civilized state in the world.

Continuing his speech, S. Muhriddin emphasized to the Tajik diplomats: “During international negotiations and meetings, we must realize with pride and national identity and a high sense of responsibility that we represent Tajikistan under the national flag. Every time the national flag is raised in honor of the victories of the athletes of Tajikistan, all residents of the country and Tajiks abroad are proud and inspired by a sense of patriotism.”

It was emphasized that, along with other sacred national symbols, paying tribute to the state flag and showing respect for it is the conscientious duty of every citizen of Tajikistan and every Tajik. “The state flag is a symbol of the state’s survival, unity and solidarity, national identity, and the best means of educating adolescents and young people in the spirit of pride in national statehood and the preservation of the historical and cultural values ​​of the Tajiks,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan concluded.

During the event, the young diplomats recited poems in honor of the National Flag.

On May 22, 2024, at the UN Headquarters, the member states celebrated the first World Football Day, the initiative which was proposed by the President of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) H.E. Rustam Emomali, and adopted through UN General Assembly Resolution No. A/RES/78/281. This historic event was organized by the Permanent missions of Tajikistan, Bahrain, and Libya to the UN as are main co-sponsors of the resolution.

The event was opened by the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations, Mr. Jonibek Hikmat.

Mr. J. Hikmat urged UN member states to harness the power of football to unite, inspire, invest in the sport’s potential and infrastructure, ensure broad access of the population, support coaches on the field, and train future stars.

Following the official part of the event, a mini-football tournament was held at the UN headquarters, with the participation of four groups representing Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Africa. The opening ceremony of a mini-football tournament was inaugurated by the President of UNGA Mr. Dennis Francis.

On May 2, 2024, another initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon, the proclamation of the “International Day of the Markhor” through the relevant resolution was adopted unanimously by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The resolution recognizes the urgent need to address the unprecedented global decline in biodiversity, emphasizing the preservation of the Markhor and its natural habitat as an ecological imperative. The resolution also underscores the significance of international and regional cooperation in conserving the Markhor, recognizing national and regional initiatives already underway.

With the adoption of this resolution, May 24 was declared the International Day of the Markhor.

It also takes note of the upcoming, Ninth World Conference on Mountain Ungulates, to be held in Dushanbe from 12 to 15 October 2024.

The Markhor (Capra falconeri) is an iconic and ecologically significant species found across the mountainous regions of Central Asia and South Asia, including Tajikistan, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The Markhor plays a crucial role in ecosystems, biodiversity, and tourism of the local economies, and understanding its conservation at the global level is important, considering that this species is on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

On 28 September 2023, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva solemnly celebrated the 32nd Anniversary of the country’s State Independence.

 

 

 

 

In his speech, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Mr. Sharaf Sheralizoda drew the attention of guests to the importance of independence and protection of its values, the achievements of the Tajikistan’s independence era, as well as to the prospects and comprehensive cooperation of Tajikistan with international organizations and Swiss Confederation.

Heads of international organizations and diplomatic missions in Geneva were presented at the event.

 

 

 

 

At the festive reception the folk crafts, achievements of Tajikistan during the period of independence, photographs, beautiful landscapes of the country, books of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon dedicated to the history and culture of Tajiks, as well as Tajik national arts, including national clothing and musical instruments have been presented.

On September 25, 2023, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Cairo solemnly celebrated the State Independence Day of Tajikistan and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Egypt.

 

 

 

 

The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Zarobiddin Kosimi, during his speech, spoke about the achievements of Tajikistan over the years of independence and the development of external relations, including with Egypt, and emphasized that Tajikistan and Egypt have great potential and resources to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

 

 

 

Much attention was also paid to the presentation of Tajikistan’s global initiatives in the field of water and climate and the implementation of sustainable development goals, including the development of a “green economy” and “green energy”.

 

 

 

The event was attended by a wide range of ambassadors and the diplomatic corps in Cairo, high-ranking representatives of the Egyptian Parliament, ministries and departments, scientific and cultural circles, entrepreneurs and representatives of the media.

During an official meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan Zarobiddin Kosimi, Dr. Ahmed Ansari on the occasion of the anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, on behalf of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi, conveyed congratulations to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E Emomali Rahmon, the people of Tajikistan and the Tajik Embassy in Cairo.
